The chevron pattern has been around for millennia, featuring on various heraldic imagery as well as pottery and ceramic designs thousands of years ago.  It’s little wonder that the pattern has stayed with us for so long considering the variety of style options it offers.  Whether you’re looking for something that feels very classic in nature or want something more contemporary and surprising, there’s always a perfect chevron pattern for you.

The chevron pattern’s versatility has much to do with its simplistic nature; you’re basically working with a repetition of V’s.  You may also hear this style referred to as featuring zig-zags.  Since the pattern itself is so simple, it’s easy to create a wide array of pattern stylings and to introduce as many color options as you can think of.  For summer patios – especially poolside – nothing says cool and refreshing like a chevron pattern with plenty of blues.

If you agree, then make sure you consider those that not only feature alternating colors like white and blue, but that feature chevron patterns in multiples shades of blue.  Working with various hues of blue can be particularly fun near sources of water like a pool or fountain feature because they will play to the look of water.

Warm or bold colors really play up the ability of chevron to act as a high-impact pattern.  Browns with hot colors like red and orange can be great colors for summer or a Southwestern inspired patio.  Bright or otherwise saturated colors are ones that will be more prone to fading outdoors so you certainly want to use outdoor cushions and pillows that use fabrics which are fade and UV resistant.  This will not only help keep colors bright but will also help the fabric itself from breaking down due to UV exposure.
